You've seen this house, at the back end of the catalog.

It's price is a little over 20,000 Simoleons -- just out of reach of any newly-created Sims. What's more, it's so tiny that if a couple moves in, they'll need to upgrade to a larger house or do vast improvements on this one to have enough room for themselves and their growing family.
And if all that weren't enough, it suffers from some clunky design, particularly when it comes to the placement of the doors into the bedrooms.
So... I decided to do some tweaking, to get the price down to just over 16,000, as well as fix some of the bad design issues. What I've created is an affordable small home with some style and better flow through the rooms. Hopefully, you'll agree.
Here's the redesigned version:

You end up with a slightly LARGER house on a 2x2 lot, rather than the original 2x3 lot. You also get saner room layouts, with a larger kitchen, and larger bedrooms with better access. (No more having your sim walk all the way down the upper hall to access bedroom 1. Now both bedroom doors are up near the staircase.) Also, there is now room for two full baths upstairs, plus another bath with shower downstairs.
Second floor:

First floor:

There's a custom door used throughout the house, a few custom walls, and one custom floor. Everything else is Maxis standard.
