I have all the free stuff from EA Sims3 store and some of the paystuff. I may sometimes use them in my houses and if you don't have them they will be replaced by the original objects in your game.

Yeps, long and narrow...the style is/was popular in New Orleans. There are a few different styles, single, double and Camel-back. The single is the norm, but then you have the double which of course is double wide, and the camel-back has an upper level on part of the house.

As John said, it's a style which was/is popular in New Orleans, but many townhouses and rowhouses built in the Northeast United States (like in New York City and Boston) have similar layouts with a hallway with staircase to one side and then rooms laid out one deep down the length of the house.  In some cases, there isn't even space for a half bathroom on every floor!

My house is designed to be a stand-alone, rather than a rowhouse, but it's the same principal.

BTW, in the Boston area, which Cambridge is, you have to pay taxes for garden space, so many homes don't have them.  Most lots are so small that there wouldn't even be space for a garden, anyway.  This would be one of those houses... Smiley

Finally, this house, like so many I do, is based on a real house -- found a picture online, on a real estate website.  I had to modify the roofline somewhat, since the Mansion and Garden roof sections don't go into walls down view.  (Wish EA had done a better job with that expansion pack, as I really love Second Empire style...)

I'll be adding some pictures of the room layouts later today, just to give everyone a better idea of where everything's located.

What a good job you did on this!  Brings back memories of my years of living on the east coast in PA and NY.
Nicely done!  Hugs; Jill wave
